When my brother was buried last Saturday, I again encountered many superstition for the dead:
l. Bawal isama mga pangalan ng mga naulila sa casket. They might join the dead. The children, who grew up in Australia ignored the supersition.
2. Bawal ihatid ang guest sa pintuan when they are leaving (You may cause them to die)
3. Do not take a bath when there is a dead a family (avoid sex too)
4. Do not go straight home after coming from a funeral wake because you may bring the spirit of the dead with you, or worse, death to your family.
5 Open the windows of your house so that the spirit of the dead can leave easily.
6. Do not wear red or bright colored clothes at a funeral/wake.
7. Bawal magpasalamat sa mga bumisita and those who gave "abuloy"
8. The babies should be made to cross over the casket before burying: to signify victory of lfe over death. Others say so that the ghost of the dead will not disturb the children.
