Undas

Undas, (or Undras in Batangas)  remembering the dead, is celebrated in our town today, November 2, 2017, which a priest today said in a nationwide TV radio station is the correct day.  Even the bishop of  Cotabato Archibishop  Orlando Cardinal  Quevedo said this is the correct date and Nov 2.  This is the original date for Undas.

It came from the original Spanish word honra, meaning honor.  It is the day we honor the dead. It also known as day for Faithful Departed.

Our business has been building memorial parks and we have built 11 of them, and there will be another new one.

As we celebrate the said feast in the said town, as I walked at the memorial park this late afternoon and evening, I could not help but feel a sense of pride for having contributed to the betterment and uplift of celebration of commemoration of the Dear Departed.  It is a time for celebration and reunion.  There is plenty of food, conversation, drinks, pizzas, hamburger from fast food joints.  Before the PNP brought down the bar, there was gambling, wine, and even loud music.

There is love, joy, merriment, and day full of memories and recollection with the living, as well as thought for those who have gone ahead of us (thus beware of Mauuna na ako when notifying your departure from a house visited or a meeting

There is also lot of commerce and business going around. Much business for flowers and food.  Since jeepneys do not pass the normal route anymore, tricycles are having a field day.

But it has become a picnic of sorts for many:  bring the tent, flowers, chairs, the jug, the softdrinks and tupperware of lots and lots of food    A family celebration  (When we running a super market, the sales before Undas equals the sale during Fiesta!)
